Iraq's representative to the Arab League, Qahtan Khalaf, affirmed on Wednesday that his country seeks to achieve tangible results that serve the Arab people, stressing the importance of dialogue as a means to achieve stability and the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
This statement was made during his speech at the meeting of Arab delegates and senior officials preparing for the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers for the 34th Arab Summit, which will be hosted by Baghdad.
Khalaf stated: "We welcome you to Baghdad, the city of peace, civilization, and history. Your presence here is a clear indication of the depth of Arab relations and the commitment of all to expanding the horizons of mutual cooperation."
He added: "We look forward to positive outcomes and decisions that serve the aspirations of the Arab peoples, especially amid the challenges facing the region, which require unity of ranks."
Khalaf pointed out that the Palestinian cause remains a top priority for Arabs and requires a unified Arab stance supporting the rights of the Palestinian people. He reiterated Iraq's commitment to strengthening Arab cooperation and working towards building understandings that contribute to confronting regional crises.
The Iraqi representative emphasized that his country will "continue its efforts to support Arab unity" and stated that "dialogue and integration are the best means to achieve security, stability, and development in the Arab world."
